Woodrow Wilson Elementary School

Greetings,

We've had some amazing times here at Woodrow! We have so many things that our team is proud of; yet, we will continue to place our primary focus on academics.

Through the seven years that I've been at Woodrow we've worked through many challenges as a faculty and staff; however, we've come to the forefront through the following: continuation of best practices; small class sizes; consistency; team buy-in; adequate instructional time through modifying schedules; increased parental involvement; incorporating the Arts into core subject areas; and providing a safe, fostered, and disciplined environment.

 

 

The following honors and/or recognitions were bestowed upon Woodrow during the 2007-2008 school year: Governor's Award for Educational Excellence by Gov. Tim Kaine; Exceptional Education Achievement Award from Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce; National RIF (Reading Is Fundamental) Award; finalist in the Panasonic National School Change Award event; selected for a study conducted by the Federal Department of Education through West ED and American Institute.

During the 2008-2009 school year we will continue to incorporate relationship building with all constituents.
As a team, we will end our school year echoing our theme, "We Build Relationships Here!"
